Choosing a Wedding day hairstyle with your face shape in mind
You are so unique and beautiful in your special way. Your face shape is just one of the many different features that makes you “YOU”! Embrace what you have been blessed with and make it really work for you. Take into consideration your face shape when choosing a hairstyle for your wedding day.
There are 6 basic face shapes : Heart, Pentagonal, Square, Round, Diamond, Oval
Heart Shaped Faces
Your pointed chin tends to be the focal point of your face. Maintain a side swept fringe and a bit of volume from the cheekbones up. This will help to direct the eye to your beautiful eye’s and check bones.
Avoid:
- Pulling all your hair back into a slick hairstyle.
- Height at the crown will only attract more attention from your diminishing jaw line.
Pentagonal Shaped Faces: The face of the pentagonal shape is characterized by strongly pronounced lower jaw. The upper part of the face is much more narrow than the bottom.
The aim of the correction is lessen the jaw appearance and to broaden out the temples’ area of the face. Celebs who share your face shape:

Square Shaped Faces
Bridal hairstyles for square shaped faces, can be long or up. You will want to chose an up-hairstyle that is soft and curly with some tendrils coming down at the front to balance your jaw line. Or keeping your hair down will be another great option for you. Keep it wavy or curly around your face.
Demi Moore has a perfect square face shape. Long hairstyles work for her.
Round Shaped Faces
You have a classic round face if the width of your face at your cheekbones is roughly the same distance as the length of your face. You likely have soft, non-angular features and “chubby” cheeks. You may find you have more of a round face when you carry extra weight, but keep in mind many classic round-faced women are super-skinny and still have non-angular features, like Cameron Diaz, in the next picture.
A great option for round faces are long layers. Keep hair longer than the chin and ask for long layers cut into hair.
Avoid:
- Slick back styles without hair touching your face.
- Do not add width around the sides of your face, this will make the face appear to be wider than normal.
- Straight, flat bangs will only shorten your face. Try tussled or side bangs
Gentle waves also deflect the roundness of the face, so if you have natural wave in your hair (as most women do), allow your hair to do its natural “thing.” Scrunch hair as it dries so it retains some of its wave or help along the wave by wrapping hair around the barrel of a large curling iron for a loose curly hairstyle.
Diamond Shaped Faces
The widest part of the diamond shaped face is the check bone area. The smallest part is the forehead and chin area. Be sure to keep the volume on top and around the jaw line.
Linda Evangelista has a perfect diamond shaped face. Angular styles will work best for you. You can also where your hair off your face with confidence.
Oval Shaped Faces
Your face shape has the best of all worlds. They say this face shape is the easiest to style for. Anything goes for you. Up-hairstyles with curl or without.
Updos for Oval faces: Almost anything is possible for oval faces. Your hair looks great pulled off your face. Bangs will accent your eyes.
Avoid:
- Wearing too much hair in your face.
- You want to show off those perfectly proportioned features!
